Tip of the month Vitamin C has been in and out of vogue for the past couple of generations: Does it prevent colds or not? It turns out that there's considerable evidence that it does not. Does it help with colds at all? Yes!! If you catch a cold, begin taking Vitamin C once or twice a day, and you will give your immune system part of the boost it needs to help fight that cold off.
PS: When you're doctor tells you you have an "upper respiratory infection," all he's told you, in a medical way, is that you have a cold. Antibiotics are NEVER appropriate for a cold; they will NOT help, and the side effects are potentially as bad or worse than the cold itself.
